Medina County Safety Council is excited to offer virtual meetings during the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Our goal is to keep our presentations short with valuable information each month, as well as an opportunity to have safety questions answered.
This month's VIRTUAL Safety Council meeting will feature a presentation on Mental Health and Wellness by Devan Althen with Alternative Paths.
Objectives: The program will review the warning signs of mental health issues, how it impacts our lives, and what local resources are available to help.
About the Presenter:
Devan Althen is the Community Prevention Specialist with Alternative Paths. She has her Bachelors in Psychology, and OCPSA in prevention. Devan goes out into the community and teaches on suicide, drug addiction and gambling addiction. She is also in charge of the Suicide Prevention Coalition in Medina County and heads many initiatives in the community to share resources in order to combat suicide and other mental health issues.

As Ohio BWC announced on 7/8/20, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Ohio Safety Councils will conduct all meetings virtually (online only) this fiscal year. This is the safest way to hold meetings as we work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Ohio. The decision to go virtual will also make participation as easy as possible for you as you focus on resuming your operations and keeping your workforce safe. In light of the difficult and unusual times, BWC will not be offering a rebate for participation nor the performance rebate (for those eligible) to employers who participate in the BWC Safety Council program. While this is not the usual direct financial reward for attending, BWC believes your business will still receive valuable workplace safety information and resources by attending meetings online. What you learn at upcoming virtual meetings can help with cost savings and keeping your workers safe from injuries and illness at work.
While this meeting will not count towards rebates from BWC, we hope that you’ll join us for an informative presentation, as well as a BWC update and safety tips.
